John Michael “Fido” Billings, age 53 of Senecaville, OH formerly of Sistersville, WV, passed away from this life on Sept.1, 2017 after a lengthy and ferocious battle with cancer. He lived his life to the fullest while he was here, taking joy in each day and filling others’ lives with love and laughter wherever he went.

The son of the late Wade Billings and the favorite son of Edith Theodosia Day Billings, Mike was born on August 8, 1964 in Baltimore, MD. He was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, a member of the 1982 Sistersville High School graduating class, and worked as a union carpenter by trade.

He had many pleasures in this life including reading, building, fishing, his tattoos, working on one project or another, playing golf with his brothers, watching old movies, playing computer games, going to auctions, and he was the greatest fan of youth and high school wrestling. His lifelong love of chocolate though, surpassed any other.

Always a practical joker at heart, Fido found humor in most every situation and went out of his way to share his love of laughter and sheer joy of life with everyone. He will be remembered by those who loved him as a good man, an excellent friend, a great dad, the best of brothers and an overall fun seeker.

He leaves behind his life partner, Amy, to continue the journey of this life without him, as well as his children: Cassidy (Keith) McCoy of Jane Lew, WV; Judd(Lia) Billings of Huntington WV, Spencer and Shelby Billings of Sistersville; Tyler(Samantha) Fish of Senecaville, OH and Nick(Sadie) Fish of Pleasant City, OH.

He is also survived by three grandchildren whom he adored: Caramia, Keenan and Crimson McCoy of Jane Lew, WV; siblings Judy (Steve) Light; Dave (Sandra) Billings; Ken (Bessie) Billings; and Bobbie Jo Billings, all of Sistersville; and Don (Sharon) Billings of Glen Burnie, MD.

Mike leaves behind a large extended family including seven nieces: Sheena, Crystal, Amber, Danielle, Erin, Alexis and Trace; four nephews: Adam, Ben, Morgan and Phillip; seven great nieces and six great nephews; three aunts, an uncle and many cousins.

Also left behind to grieve their friend are his buddies, Daisy, Hooper and Hoghead.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Steve, three nephews and a niece.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Guernsey County Hospice for their assistance over the past couple of months, and a special thank you to Sherry Flood who was both friend, family as well as caregiver for Mike.

While Mike certainly loved people and interacting with friends and family, his family requests privacy at this time and will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
